Description

History of the Model: The AW2013 collection marks a pivotal moment for Louis Vuitton, which, under the leadership of Kim Jones, is building bridges between Western luxury and global textile craftsmanship. This collaboration with KAPITAL is part of this desire to celebrate Japanese artisanal heritage, particularly through two ancestral techniques: boro and sashiko. Boro refers to a method of repairing and reusing worn clothing, historically practiced in rural Japan. The pieces of fabric were recovered, superimposed, mended, forming over time unique patchworks, which today have become collector’s items. Sashiko, for its part, is a utilitarian embroidery technique using small regular stitches to reinforce fabrics or decorate them. Originally functional, this process has become a strong aesthetic signature, recognizable by its hand-embroidered geometric patterns, often in white thread on an indigo background. By integrating this know-how into a high fashion piece, this Louis Vuitton × KAPITAL jacket crystallizes the alliance between textile memory, sustainability, and contemporary reinterpretation of clothing. Exterior Details: The jacket is made from a complex patchwork of Japanese fabrics, hand-stitched in a boro spirit. Each yoke displays its own identity: stripes, sashiko embroidery, irregular weaving and deliberately visible wear. The back features a large “V” in a contrasting patch, a nod to Vuitton. The high collar closes with a button, the silver metal zip fastening bears the Louis Vuitton logo. Slightly gathered cuffs and hems complete a loose, comfortable silhouette. Interior Details: The lining is in midnight blue cupro, fluid and breathable. The interior label “Louis Vuitton Paris” is accompanied by the composition label. No interior pocket, consistent with the refined aesthetic of the model. Product Condition: The jacket is in excellent condition, with no structural defects. The irregular material effects, repeats and worn fabrics are deliberate and faithful to KAPITAL’s aesthetic approach. The seams are solid, the closure works perfectly, and the interior shows no signs of use. Care Instructions: Due to the complexity of the materials and indigo dyes, professional dry cleaning is recommended. Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun to preserve color contrasts. Store on wide hanger to maintain shape. Why Choose this Product: The result of an emblematic collaboration between Louis Vuitton and KAPITAL, this jacket embodies the fusion between European luxury and Japanese craftsmanship. It constitutes a rare museum piece, both designer clothing and textile work. Perfectly suited to lovers of unique pieces, it reflects a strong moment in the history of contemporary fashion, through the influence of Kim Jones and the vision of two major fashion houses.
