Description
Model history :
Created in 1961 by designer Marie-Françoise Héron, “Le Timbalier” pays homage to the military musicians of the Ancien Régime who guided the cavalry to the sound of timpani. This square is one of the brand’s classics, and was reissued several times in the 2000s, proving its enduring success with collectors.
Details :
The dense silk twill (approx. 65 g) features a light-catching twill weave. The central motif shows the rider in embroidered habit, feather in tricorn, mounted on a caparisoned horse; ribbons and cords wind to the corners, creating a symmetrical composition. The royal blue border frames the design, emphasizing the precision of the lines.
Clean reverse, hems rolled inwards and tone-on-tone stitched, “Hermès Paris” signature printed on lower left corner. The inner side reveals the reverse side of the pattern without loss of vibrancy, indicating excellent dye penetration.
Product condition :
Very good vintage condition. The silk retains its luster and supple hand; no major pulled threads or visible stains.
Maintenance tips :
Dry clean only by a silk specialist. Store flat or rolled, out of direct sunlight to preserve pigments. To remove wrinkles, use lukewarm, non-contact steam or a silk position iron on the reverse side, with a thin cloth in between.
